The IEEE ICDE 2012 conference is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of NSF-funded scholarships (subject to approval by NSF) to participate at the conference. Recipients of scholarships are expected to attend the conference and participate in a career mentoring forum organized by ICDE.
Applications for scholarships include (Materials Due: 03.01.2012):
For those students who have submitted a complete application for scholarship by March 1, the early registration rate for the conference (and conference+workshop) will be extended to accommodate the time needed for the scholarship decision. Please note, scholarship is for applicants who attend and register for the entire conference.
- Completed Application Form available at: http://bit.ly/x6ksP1
- Reference Letter from advisor/supervisor (Email to icde2012sponsorshipchairs@gmail.com)
Decisions for scholarship will be based on the applicant’s status (undergraduate, graduate or post-doctoral fellow), research emphasis as shown by a 1000 word summary, reference letter from advisor and whether the participant is presenting at the conference/workshops associated with ICDE 2012. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are women or members of minority groups that are currently under-represented in the data engineering research community.
ICDE will also be organizing a career mentoring forum. This is open to all participants of the ICDE conference. There will be two events associated with this forum. Participants who filled the scholarship application are automatically enrolled in this program and do not need to fill this form again. Please fill the form at: http://bit.ly/x6ksP1
- Career Mentoring Panel (Monday April 2, 2012 at 7:30pm): A panel discussion amongst leading researchers within the field, discussing issues related to opportunities in industry, academia and government settings. Other topics of discussion will be related to broader impacts of the field on society.
- Career Mentoring & Networking: Participants will be introduced to an assigned mentor before the conference. Mentors and mentees will be encouraged to meet at the ICDE 2012 conference events. Discussion focused around career growth for participants and building ever-lasting relationships. This is an excellent networking opportunity.
